Professional Teeth Whitening

The safest and most effective way to get a whiter smile is to have your teeth whitened professionally.

We will discuss your desired shade with you, and safely and accurately use bleaching products in order to remove stains from the surface of your teeth. Teeth whitening can typically be completed in just one appointment, saving you time spent in the dental chair. If you have healthy teeth and gums, you’ll be a great candidate for professional whitening.

How Does Professional Teeth Whitening Work?

Having your teeth professionally whitened is a very simple, safe, and straightforward process. Teeth whitening will be done in the office, and can typically be completed in just one visit depending on the amount of discolouration.

We use a method called chairside bleaching to complete this process. Before they begin, they’ll make sure your gums are protected from the bleaching products being used for whitening. This protection will be in the form of either a rubber shield or a protective gel that is applied topically to your gums. This prevents potential injury to the gum area while being able to deliver maximum whitening results.

We will also record the current shade of your teeth, and polish them to remove any plaque on the surface. This will help the bleaching products target the surface of your teeth and whiten them more effectively.

Finally, the whitening solution will be applied to the front surface of your teeth. The whitening session will range anywhere from 30-60 minutes, and whether or not it’s reapplied will depend on the opinion of your dentist. Once the desired shade has been reached the product will be rinsed off, and you can enjoy your white smile!

Who is a Good Candidate for Teeth Whitening?

Those with good oral health and permanent teeth are always good candidates to have their teeth whitened. Whitening permanent teeth with no oral health issues pose little to no risk to the patient, and can effectively deliver the whitening results they’re looking for.

Anyone with moderate to severe discolouration is also a great candidate. The bleaching products being used will remove the topical layer of yellow or brown on the surface of the teeth, and also penetrate further into the enamel to target deeper stains for a complete treatment.

Lastly, those who have had a recent check-up and cleaning are ideal candidates. Any oral health issues need to be diagnosed and treated prior to whitening to achieve the best results.
